Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt. – William Shakespeare
Oh my word!! I have been talking about this blog for almost two years!!… BUT I am a perfectionist.🫣 I have researched, taken notes, listened to podcasts, watched videos, ad infinitum! I am posting this first post to take away the power of the fear of the unknown. As I type this, I can’t figure out how to change it from saying “admin” as the author(lol), I can barely read the text on my screen, the font is too fancy for each paragraph, AND I have stolen the picture of a baby from the internet because if I put it off until I find the photo of me (that I know is in my photo abyss) it will be another two years! HA! (I WILL find my photo… in the meantime, this one is from www.cnmilaw.org.)
Well, with all that said, here we go! 💜 To say that I am addicted to travel (and learning) is an understatement. I don’t know of a more dramatic way to say it than that, so I feel it doesn’t do it justice. lol I cried for the first 6 months of my life (whoops)…like… A LOT. I had colic and despite my parents taking turns walking a track in the carpet to help soothe my belly (or so they thought 😉), I didn’t stop until I landed in Hawaii. Not saying… just saying. My wanderlust had begun! I have been blessed to travel and live all over the world, and cannot wait to see more!
So, why another travel blog? There are already SO MANY out there. Honestly, I don’t know. I just know God told me to and the thought of sharing my experiences and hopefully inspiring others to see all that He’s created and to meet many of the fascinating people who are out there excites me. I know the direction of this blog will morph as I go, but my intention is to share my travels, encourage and inspire you to do the same, and to always be real… the good, the bad, and the ugly. Because truly, I can’t help myself. I try to couch things nicely, but it will always be the truth. 😬 I want to be a resource, a motivator, and a recorder of all things beautiful (which tends to lean heavily towards water, flowers, and, oddly enough, doors.)
August 10th of last year I hopped on a flight to England to hike a little in Wales, Ireland, and Scotland and then head onto the Camino de Santiago…except I never made it past the coast of Wales, stayed with a new friend (read: stranger), ended up in three hospitals, and was “stuck” in Europe for 3 months. I’m hoping to start there, recounting that tale, sharing photos, tips, and history about the things I saw and whether you should bother. 😅
Once I finish with that one, I’ll dive into the road trip I took across the US (2021) after a tree fell on my “mom car”. Thinking I’ll work backwards… but who knows!? Truly not me… AND hopefully, the backwards progression will be interrupted by new travels. YAY!!! As I write this, we’re coming up on 25 years and my husband has planned a surprise trip… I don’t know where we’re going or for how long. I’m sure it will be super great!! I also was privileged to take a ship around the world and stopped in a huge variety of countries, and am looking forward to doing homework on those places as I share them with you.
Living overseas and traveling since I was 6 months old has probably made me a little bolder than most, BUT I want you to know that even though the first step is scary, it is SO WORTH IT!! I’m going through that right this second… my stomach is in my throat, but this is going to be a ton of fun! Hoping you’ll join me as we “see what’s over there.” 😊💜 – Chrissy
